Proposition 45 will help lower our cost of living by streamlining reviews of essential projects – while maintaining California’s strong environmental protections

Sacramento, CA — This weekend, the Yes on 45 campaign launched a statewide advertising campaign in support of Prop 45, the Building an Affordable California Act, with two new ads making the case for the measure as a critical step toward lowering California’s high cost of living.

The statewide advertising campaign will appear on digital, social media, television, cable and other channels. Prop 45 streamlines reviews of essential projects and sets clear, enforceable timelines so California can build housing, clean energy, water systems, roads and wildfire prevention faster and more affordably.

“Years of unnecessary delays are driving up what we pay for housing, energy, water, transportation and other essentials, and those costs land on families, small business owners and taxpayers. Prop 45 will help California build the basics faster and more affordably — so we can lower costs, get critical projects built sooner and make life better for Californians,” said Jennifer Barrera, President and CEO of the California Chamber of Commerce.

The advertising launch comes as organizations across California continue to announce support for Proposition 45. The Yes on 45 campaign says its coalition now includes more than 160 organizations statewide. In recent weeks, the Southern California News Group’s editorial board endorsed Prop 45 as a “sensible and fair-minded” fix for California’s broken permitting process, and the San Diego Union-Tribune Editorial Board called its passage a “rare victory for common sense.”

BACKGROUND: Prop 45, the Building an Affordable California Act, modernizes California’s project approval and permitting process for essential projects — including housing, water infrastructure, clean energy, transportation infrastructure, hospitals and health care facilities, schools, broadband, and wildfire prevention projects — by establishing clear timelines, improving accountability, and reducing unnecessary delays, while preserving strong environmental, labor, and tribal cultural resource protections. Prop 45 is supported by a broad and growing coalition of 160+ organizations, including affordable housing advocates, civil rights leaders, clean energy builders, water providers, agricultural groups, and business organizations statewide.
